The 2026 luncheon
will be held on
Thursday, April 23rd, 2025
at Worthington Center, St. Martin’s University
Former Director, Washington Stae Historical Society
Do all roads lead to Tumwater? Some of the most important roads in the history of Washington state do! Former state historical society director Dave Nicandri will begin by describing the location of the the original Cowlitz Trail, which took Tumwater's founding emigrant party to the Deschutes River falls and environs. That epic 19th century story will be followed by a visual recapitulation of the several 20th century automobile-centric roads that enabled travel to and through Tumwater. This presentation was originally conceived as a study piece for the city of Tumwater's historic preservation committee, so the city might mark these historic routes and related features of interest.
We are now holding our luncheon at Worthington Center, St. Martin's University. Why are we hosting the event here? A few reasons, including:
A spacious, easily accessible meeting place! Worthington Center is on the ground floor--no stairs or elevator to fuss with and more room to mingle inside.
Vastly improved parking! We will have three large lots to park in, all of which are directly adjacent to Worthington Center.
A hosted social hour! Worthington Center staff will be serving soft drinks from 11am-12pm. (One drink per guest.)
